Here is a good one, fresh to the market. Horatio was the son of Wisconsin State Senator Noah Virgin. He enlisted into the Wisconsin 2nd Cavalry and was appointed Adjutant of the 2nd. Mustered out by the army and transferred to the 33rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. There he was third in command and ended up as the Lt. Col. of the group. He commanded the muster-out and received a Brevet to Full Colonel by a grateful War Department. Note the pin or nail hole at the top of the CDV. Also a corp badge or fraternal pin on his vest.
